As a Master Instructor with 15 years experience teaching ChiRunning, Hazel Wood will teach you how to run with more ease and energy and prevent injury and give you lots of tips so that you can improve and enjoy your running more. You’ll enjoy a rich learning experience, get lots of personal attention and have fun. This class is for anyone – beginners who want to start off “right”, seasoned runners who want to increase distance or speed, triathletes looking to improve the run portion, or if you’re just tired of being injured. The workshop meets indoors in The Grotto, Level 1 at Sports Basement. It will be held both indoors and outdoors – rain or shine so dress accordingly. Bring water, sunscreen and any snacks you may need. Video gait analysis is included. You will also receive a set of materials to assist you with continued learning and practice.

You will get lots of personal attention and enjoy a rich learning experience packed with good information to help you run injury-free for the rest of your life.

The Chi Running Essentials workshop includes several hours of instruction in a single 1/2 day course. Hazel will be guiding you through many exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the Chi Running technique feels like in your body. We will not be doing lots of running (contrary to what you might imagine), so no matter what condition you are in, have no fear. We will spend time alternating between demonstrations, fun exercises and technique drills … the nature of the day will be relaxed, full and inspiring.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful information Hazel. I went on a 4 mile run yesterday (the first since our workshop), 1/2 pavement, 1/2 trail and it was exhilirating, easy! and just felt so wonderful. 4 miles for me was a “big run” a week ago…this time it felt effortless….

I wanted to let you know that today Jennifer and I went for a 6 mile run and I was really focusing on:

  1. holding my arms at 90 degrees and using my arms
  2. falling forward slightly
  3. visualizing the parasail method, alternating with the ground moving towards me
  4. focusing on someone or something in the distance

And, guess what?  I had one of the best runs ever!  I had a record time for the route too!  I admit I was a bit of a skeptic on the Chi technique, but think I’m sold now!  I can’t wait for my next run.  So, thank you!

Cancellation Policy

Cancel 10 days before the workshop and you will be refunded $130 (there is a $10 processing fee), or you can use the $140 for a future workshop purchased through Stride By Stride within one year with no penalty. If you cancel within 10 days of the workshop, you will not receive a refund, but the full fee can be credited towards a future workshop purchased through Stride By Stride within one year. If you cancel within two days of the workshop you forfeit your full payment.

The Instructor reserves the right to cancel/reschedule the workshop (e.g. weather conditions or if group minimum of 3 people is not reached), in which case you will receive a full refund.
