Instructor Tips

Alice Peters Diffely shares these great tips for ChiRunning:

"Frequently before I head out for a run, I choose one or two ChiRunning focuses to concentrate on that day. About once a week, though, I like to head to the track and methodically cycle through a series of focuses. To work the focuses, I use a number of images, sensations, and visualizations, many of which are described throughout the ChiRunning book. I call this work-out the Form Focus Sequence. Here's an example of how it works..."

Recipe - apple cinnamon cous cous

Matthew Germain shared this great fall time recipe for apple cinnamon cous cous. Yum!

1 cup cous cous
1 3/4 cup water
1/2 of an apple sliced into half moons
1/2 cup of raisins
1/3 cup slivered almonds

Boil water and then add cous cous. Stir for one minute, cover and remove from heat. After 10-15 minutes add all the other ingredients to the cous cous and mix around. Add honey and cinnamon to desired taste! This makes a great breakfast food or side dish and it is perfect for a seasonal party. Don't forget to wash it down with some fresh apple cider!

Stress Reduction Made Easy

It goes without saying that these are pretty stressful times we're all going through. Whether it's politics, the economy, fuel costs and availability, or our innumerable personal issues, it seems that almost everyone I talk to is walking around with an unusual amount of stress. Emotional and mental worries and tension can lead to physical tension held in your muscles. So, I thought I'd offer some suggestions for how to neutralize as much of that stress as possible. Keep in mind that if you are feeling generally stressed in your life, you might need to initiate a program to "de-stress" yourself on a daily basis. Katherine and I have morning rituals. . .
