52 year old runner, Cleveland marathon

« Go Back

I am 52 years old. In 1997 after running the Cleveland marathon, I had to have surgery to repair my achilles tendon. I was told I would never run at the same level again. Since then, every time I have tried a “comeback,” I hurt something else. I tore a hamstring, tore a groin muscle and developed shinsplints and then plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Until several months ago, the doctor was right.

Then, I bought your book and DVD on Chirunning. And, as I began practicing the focuses you mention, things began to change for me.

I am now running over 40 miles a week and so far, I am uninjured. This past spring I applied and was accepted to run the New York City Marathon.

I just want to say thank you so much. My life now seems more balanced than it has for 7 years. I tell my friends to look for me on TV in the race. I’ll be wearing my ChiRunning T Shirt and a huge smile!
