1st in Age Group after Danny’s Training Group
I am fortunate to have found Danny Dreyer and his ChiRunning philosophy and technique.
I participated in two of Danny’s ChiRunning Training Groups. Each training group has a detailed training plan and schedule with race specific training.
The first training group was in preparation for the 2019 Asheville Biltmore Half and Full Marathon. I enjoyed Sunday’s ‘long, slow distance’ (LSD) training runs starting at Bent Tree Trail Head in Pisgah National Forest and Thursday’s ‘Form and Focus’ training sessions at UNC Asheville. I completed the half marathon winning my 70 to 74 age group. No aches, no pain and no doubt that I would finish. Just a feeling of satisfaction…
The next training group was in preparation for the 2019 downtown Asheville Half Marathon and 10K. Again, Danny’s Saturday’s ‘long, slow distance’ (LSD) training runs and the half marathon course training run left no doubt that I would finish. I completed the half marathon finishing second in my 70 to 74 age group.
The ChiRunning running philosophy may be more important that the physical technique. While it is easy to describe the detailed training and race specific training, it’s harder to describe the mental and philosophical preparation needed to complete a marathon. Danny integrates Y’chi as part of the ‘mental preparation’ to focus on your marathon goal.
The support of the ChiRunning Training Group participants cannot be overlooked. Every participant, regardless of age or experience, supports each other. Everyone is a finisher.
