6/21/2009 I was going to give up running until because of all the pains I was getting, before a friend recommended the ChiRunning book. I love how in depth it describes what you're supposed to do. Since I read it, I have been able to run harder, more frequently and more pain free. I have qualified for Boston since reading (which I never thought possible) am on the verge of becoming a sub-3-hour marathoner.

6/18/2009 I have been an on/off runner for more than twenty years, and I did it the hard way. In 2004, I trained for and completed my first marathon (3:37) but it took more than 3 months to recover. I only knew one way to run: heavy.

Although I'm not a heavy person, I seemed to run heavy with a clunking heal-strike. As you can imagine, I was prone to

6/18/2009 I attended the ChiRunning program at Kripalu at the end of May. The techniques I learned have been amazingly effective at improving the ease I feel while running! I work in learning and development at my company, and don't apply the word "transformational" lightly when describing a workshop or class.

ChiRunning was truly transformational! Huge thanks to Danny, David & Michael for sharing your knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for running

6/12/2009 I just ran the London Marathon (2 days ago) and I have never before in my life enjoyed running a race so much. I had a smile on my face as I ran and I finished the race with no injuries - and I did not "hit the wall." ChiRunning techniques have improved my posture, eliminating lower back and all other muscular pain.

Thank you for giving the world this wonderful technique. It works

6/9/2009 I've run for 20 years fairly competitively but after 3 knee surgeries... was feeling that my days of running competitively were over.  I read "ChiRunning"on a business trip this winter and was interested (but skeptical).  I started training hard using the techniques as best I could on my own.

At 48 I have now run 3 ultra trail marathons this spring winning 1 and finishing 2nd twice to runners 15 years younger than me.

6/5/2009 Hi,

My Name is Rachel MacNeill and I live on the Isle of Lewis part of the island chain that forms the Western Isles of Scotland and I run 5 half marathons across the islands between may and July. Anyway I would like to say a big thank you for producing your DVD and book about ChiRunning. Did my first race using the ChiRunning technique last Saturday. I started to learn ChiRunning 3

6/3/2009 I have practiced yoga for 11 years and only started running about a year ago. I could not understand how to apply the principles described in your book to my running. On reading your book the penny dropped; for me, ChiRunning is asana on the move!

The idea of the lean is great and I liken it to a satellite falling around the Earth (never hits the ground of course). My breathing and

I am 58 years old and started running the Newport, Oregon marathon every year about 4 years ago.  My first year I had a time of about 4:46 and, with a lot of effort, have chipped away at that a little bit every year.  Last year I trained hard and turned in a 4:36 time but suffered for months afterward from overtraining syndrome.  So much so that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to start training for this

6/2/2009 This morning as I was watching the Boston marathon I thought a lot about ChiRunning, but then when I saw the incredible women's finish and the way the Kenyan ran I just had to contact you! The metronome was stuck in 90 with her for almost the entire race, until the last mile when she increased the step to 91 SPM. Kara's was at around 92 to 93, but it was when I saw how

5/25/2009 In a nutshell, I was run over by a truck in 1995. I was never a runner but I
did want to run. At the age of 44, 9 years after the truck accident, I read
ChiRunning, many many times. And then I ran. Since then I have run many
half-marathons, 3 full marathons, 1 half IRONMAN, and this past weekend I
completed the Keys100

Thank you so much for discovering the ChiRunning technique, Danny! My name is Vi Tu Banh from Markham, ON, Canada. I am an optometrist by profession and am privileged to have the ability and skill to help people see better and maintain their good vision. I also do a lot of training and speaking on practice and personal improvement. Everyday I see patients who are losing their

5/12/2009 I wanted to pass on some great results from a marathon this past Sunday (purely a training run) in preparation for my long distance triathlons. I did an IRONMAN race on Saturday (including the marathon run) and then did the marathon race Sunday. I went into the race Sunday with the intent of running on tired legs, to see how much of a difference ChiRunning was in terms of efficiency and ability to maintain consistent

5/12/2009 I just wanted to tell you that I am still working on perfecting my technique in ChiWalking, and am going great. I had my first outdoor dog agility trial of the season last weekend, and ran strongly and without pain! Wow! I am so thrilled.

Right now I have just a hint of under-foot (plantar fascia) sensitivity and tightness (probably after the extra weekend running, and in the excitement of the moment, forgetting my

4/29/2009 Here we go again. I recently wrote about my AR50 run and said I was going to run Big Sur (for the first time). I had no clue about the course other than it could be windy and there were a few hills. I also knew it  was a beautiful course. So 3 weeks after having a good performance at AR50 I figured I could
maybe do a 3:45 to 4 hour marathon.

Two years ago, my younger brother discovered ChiRunning. He got me hooked on it. I have since run six marathons.

We both have qualified for Boston. My older brother has had knee pain and with encouragement from the two of us, he starting using ChiRunning and has successfully run three marathons. Our last brother returned to running after 20 years away and quickly adopted the ChiRunning

4/24/2009 7 months ago, I bought the Chi-Running book and audio download as my final attempt to fulfill a decade-old dream of crossing the finish line of a full city marathon just once in my life.  I'm 37, and over the past 12 years, have quit running 3 times due to chronic knee pain, and was told by a sports doctor to "try changing to swimming."

On March 22, I crossed the finish line of

4/24/2009 I wrote a testimonial last January. I am writing again because I am a big believer in ChiRunning. I just finished my second 50 mile race at AR50 in Sacramento on April 4th.

My first 50 mile race (Tahoe Rim) was very difficult and painful. It took me 10:27. It was a good finish for that race, but the pain in my knee was very intense and

4/15/2009 I'll be 66 in a week, and I have really good news: Last Saturday, I ran a marathon in 3:22:18, winning my age group by 77 minutes. I was 24th overall out of 175 runners...
Back in February, I ran a 3:31 in Huntington beach in Feb. Then I ran Little Rock in 3:21, then and 3:22 in Abilene, KS. I can attribute the 10 minute difference in the races is thanks to ChiRunning...

4/2/2009 I have run in and through severe running pain in both hamstrings for almost two decades. I love running and always engage with others out on the trails.

Since then I've had two of the best runs since I can

3/24/2009 I absolutely loved your book, ChiRunning.  I have heard about it for a few years and thought I would examine the potential benefits to my running.

Just for background, I compete in Ultra Distance Triathlons (longer than the Ironmans).  Specifically, these are Double, Triple, Quintuple and DECA Ironmans, so lots of running.  During these races similar to a hundred mile run, keeping "form" is always difficult in the later stages (for me this is

3/24/2009 I was lucky enough to attend Danny's workshop in October 08 in Bethesda, Md., shortly before moving from Charlotte, NC to just north of Pittsburgh PA. Like thousands of pain-free runners, I can't thank you enough. The ChiRunning skills helped me to adjust to a new place (hills! and colder!) and LOVE it. I believe I heard Danny say that running reminds you to fall in love with being outside...I've been rewarded by running by

3/24/2009 I took one ChiWalking workshop.  I was sort of afraid to run because I've fallen several times and wasn't sure how my bones would hold up.  Now I am actually jogging!  I feel more trusting of my body's strength and balance.  I am very grateful to my instructors in Montreal, who were patient and encouraging!

3/24/2009 I recommend Chi Running to everyone runner I know, even the healthy ones.

A few thoughts about ChiRunning:  First, I really like the section of the book that discusses what you are doing wrong if something hurts.  It used to be that if something hurt, it was time to shut down the running and go into recovery mode.  Now when something hurts, I look at as a signal of how to improve my running

3/24/2009 I've been practicing T'ai Chi for a few years, and when I saw The ChiRunning book, I thought it would be a good gift for my husband, who used to run (ran a marathon), but, because of a back injury, stopped for a number of years.  I have never been a runner, but would run a block then walk a few blocks just to make my walk a little more challenging.

Well, on

5/22/2008 Danny,

I am just discovering ChiWalking and I am amazed. I started reading your book yesterday and for my walk today I tried aligning myself and body sensing. I couldn’t believe with just that small bit of change the great walk I had. I walked 50 minutes and it felt like 30 or less and no pain. I have a herniated disk and it felt great. all I can say is wow. I

I met you in person at the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon Expo, and you helped me with a pulled hip flexor--I wasn't successfully following the ChiRunning like I thought I was. Anyways, I kept practicing what you told me and just ran my fastest marathon time beating the time I set for myself 12 years ago, when I was 30, and I was faster by over 5 minutes, and not sore after

5/9/2008 Dear Katherine and Danny,

I am 59 years old and 230#, and I have spent the last 30 years trying to run--even small amounts. But I inevitably (usually quickly) re-injured my calf muscles (you probably already know what's coming). Then I would have to lay off for quite awhile. Then I'd go back and do the same thing. I tried M.D.s, D.C.s, exercises, stretching, everything I could think of. I gave up and

Wow, what a weekend! Cindy and I went to San Antonio for a ChiWalking Workshop with Ken Runner, a ChiWalking/Running coach. We learned so much and he helped us to figure out what we needed to work on. The whole thing was lots of fun and really valuable to our whole goal of walking 60 miles in 3 days for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. He showed us what a difference it can make to use

9/22/2007 ChiWalking is a walking technique that places much less stress than
conventional walking on the joints and supporting structures in the
legs and back. I have recommended the technique to many patients who
suffer from arthritis in the legs and/or back, but would like to
continue to walk regularly for exercise. Using ChiWalking, my
arthritis patients are able to walk farther, more frequently, and

8/9/2007 I saw a patient last week whom I have followed for many years, with, among other problems, severe knee arthritis that limited his walking. I put him onto Chi Walking 3 months ago. He is now Chi walking at all times, and states that by eliminating the heel strike in his step, his knee pain is about gone, and he has been able to take up exercise walking again.

I just thought I would touch base while I had a chance while I am recuperating a bit in Kathmandu. Wow. Talk about an opportunity to put ChiWalking to work in a very real way. After walking about 150 miles or so (as best we can guess) up and down mountain trails in the Himalayas up to Everest Base Camp (at over 5300 meters/around 17,500 feet in altitude) and back, I can honestly tell you

4/23/2007 I gave birth to our first child, Mae Louise, two weeks ago. I was able to do ChiWalking the last two trimesters of my pregnancy. I had to make a few small changes in stride length and postural alignment, but still felt the generation of well-being energy and avoided back/pelvic pain!
12/8/2006 Hi Danny,
I'm sure by now you have taught many workshops, and taught many people...some you've helped and heard from .... and some you've helped and never heard back from.  I attended the workshop in Houston in October 2005, and wanted to let you know what a difference you have made in my life....SINCERELY!  I

guess that the simple act of walking could change your life? I will

to integrate them into a whole life perspective. Thank you for the

2/11/2006 I have begun implementing some of the techniques of ChiRunning to my walking, and found it extremely beneficial.  I have studied taiji and qigong on and off for years, particularly the Zhan Zhuang and Da Cheng Chuan styles.  I could never progress far due to the pain and numbness in my feet.

and then the fun part begins with the ascent back up to the helicopter
landing zone.   Some of these ascents

12/16/2005 Hi Danny,
My wife has recently lost 10 lbs (I'm not supposed to tell anyone), and a big part of that is walking your way.  After my session with you last month, I showed  her the basics.
She began walking by lifting and leaning.  Now, she walks everyday, loves it, goes for an hour or so, her heart rate is lower and she's not pounding hard.  The women's fitness magazines have walking all wrong,
