My running passion started at the age of 15 in Europe, where I was determined to prove wrong a spiteful P.E. teacher who told me that I couldn’t run. I succeeded, and finished second in the cross-country race. From there on, running became a passion of mine; successfully competing in all run disciplines from cross-country to marathons. After moving to the USA in 2001, I competed nationwide in duathlons and triathlons, and it was then, while looking for a “better” way to run twice in one competition, that I finally learned about ChiRunning in 2005. After a learning curve, I found ChiRunning benefited not only my running, but also other sports I practiced – as well as my daily life.
In 2007, I travelled from my home in Australia to San Francisco, CA and participated in the ChiRunning Instructors Course with Master Instructor Chris Griffin — what a revelation that course was!
I had the honor of becoming Australia’s first Certified ChiRunning Instructor.
ChiRunning was relatively unknown in Australia, and it was through hard work and by word-of-mouth from those i had instructed and had benefited from ChiRunning that it became known. It is now a respected and mainstream way of running in the Southern Hemisphere.
I travel all over Australia and New Zealand to teach ChiRunning to running groups and individuals. I am always happy to hear about the continuous progress my students have made, and how they are still setting new PB’s years after they have originally learned about this great way of running & lifestyle.
ChiRunning is adaptable to all disciplines of sport, anywhere in fact where a sport involves running!
It can be Surf Lifesaving beach sprinting and flag sprint competitions to 10km to ultramarathons, to football or rugby.
The ChiRunning technique — running relaxed with aligned posture, level pelvis, fluid cadence, efficiency, ChiRunning is really adaptable in all disciplines of running and it has far-reached benefits in all parts of life, as well.
My favorite part of ChiRunning is the inner balance & flow of Chi obtained through a level pelvis and running with my powerful Dantien instead of running with my legs!
I use the ChiRunning principals in many sports, running, martial arts to surfing and weight training, as well as everyday life. You see, the ChiRunning principles really do bring you long lasting benefits and well-being into your life, whatever your sporting level & abilities.
