Aracely Areas Senior Instructor
Aracely, is a Chi Running® Instructor since 2004 and Certified Chi Walking Instructor since 2005, she has been personally trained and mentored by Danny Dreyer, the founder of Chi Running®/Chi Walking® techniques. Runner for over 15 years, Aracely experienced the running’s challenges, injuries, and physical pain of power running. But, after coming across Danny in 1999, she immediately booked a personally 1 on 1 with him on the Chi Running® technique. She will never forget that summer day in June 1999 when she run 5 miles with Danny as her running Coach…it was the first time she felt such of enjoyment in running, her running thinking changed for ever, now she enjoy running without the physical pain.
Aracely lives in San Jose, California and had traveled to Los Angeles, Texas, San Francisco, Netherlands assisting Danny and Masters instructors in certifying the next generation of instructors as well on assisting on workshops. She also teaches these techniques to groups and private citizens.
Aracely is also a certified Pilates Mat and Equipment instructor…and marathon Coach since 1999 . She has been a coach and member of San Jose Fit since 1998. She has completed 23 marathons pain Free!! She earned Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1999. Aracely’s teaches with passion, she loves to share her running experience with others. She also Teaches a Core Class for runners/walkers which runners/walkers really loves!

Your expertise and patience equips each of us with techniques that enable us to stay with a sport we love, due to learning how to run without injury. You have a knack for quickly sizing up what each student needs to do to improve our running. You provide each student with personalized advice and tips. Your teaching style enables us to absorb the advice you provide to each student into our own regime.
Due to your coaching, I am looking forward to getting even more enjoyment out of running.
I just wanted to say thank you for the follow up workshop session today - it was incredibly useful. I got a lot out of last Sunday’s event at Sports Basement, but all the concepts were new and a lot to digest. As I tried to practice this week, I wasn’t sure if I was doing things right, and the session today brought it all together. Spending time on the Chi Walking will, I am sure, prove to be extremely valuable for the running as the concepts are very much the same, but you can practice the walking in many more places and without getting into shorts and running shoes! Also, being able to use the downhill ramp today really helped get a feeling for the higher gears with the increased lean and the way to extend the stride to the rear so you can land properly. By the time we were done, I felt my questions were answered and I would be able to go out and practice this properly. I really did today, for the first time, experience that ‘effortless’ feeling that is the promise of Chi Running. Great Job!

Thank you so much for sharing Chi Running with us at the workshop. Both Vince and I enjoyed the classes and got a lot out of it. I could even feel my core was a little sore last night! Even though I’ve read the book and was applying the techniques, I learned so much more about my form from the session. Now it’s just practice, practice, practice.
Just wanted to tell you (I keep missing you in class); THANK YOU so much for these classes- I can’t believe how much it’s changed how I run.
I haven’t had a chance to run during the week b/c of work, but due to your weekly classes, I’ve been able to manage the 5-8 miles run without too much pain (*hopefully it’ll stay that way)- YAY!!
I’ll miss next Tuesday’s class, but will be back the following Tuesday.

Thanks so much for such a helpful workshop and follow-up. You have a great teaching style—-very knowledgeable, low key, specific, patient and sprinkled with dry humor. BTW - I went for a 4.3 mi run in the evening. I was able to swing my leg behind and that helped with the tightness in the hips.

Thank you for your outstanding clinic in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii. I had been practicing Chi Running from reading the book and watching the DVD for 3 months prior to participating in your Honolulu Clinic. I had no idea how incorrect I was, on my pelvic tilt, which you spotted as over engaged. I was spilling chi out behind me and firing my quads. What a huge energy leak! You spotted my stride as too long and too slow, and my hip rotation was non-existent.
After the workshop, I put in the corrections on my runs. Surprisingly, I immediately dropped 2.5 minutes off my per mile pace. My right hip has an old running injury that flares up when I go too far or too fast. There was no pain. Nothing! Simply amazing! Thank you for your outstanding Chi Running Instruction. For the first time since my childhood, I feel like I can really Run!!!
“I have just returned from the Los Gatos Chi Running workshop with Aracely Areas.
OMG - she was amazing! I was extremely impressed with her ability to diagnose injury prone walking/running habits. In addition to that she prescribed corrective postures and techniques that brought immediate relief.
Her stories were inspirational and her workshop moved at a very relaxed pace. She created a very supportive non-threatening environment where all of us felt encouraged and hopeful. By the end of the day I was quite impressed with how much information I personally had gathered despite the fact that I had read Chi Running a few years ago. Getting Aracely’s immediate and professional feedback has already made all the difference in the world.
Believe it or not I went from only being able to jog for 30 seconds at a time the day before the workshop to being able to run 15 consecutive minutes the morning after the workshop. I felt great and so encouraged by such a dramatic improvement that I signed up for the Maui Marathon Sept of 2010! THAT is how confident I am in Chi Running and Aracely!
Anyway, thanks so much for helping me to get into a workshop at such a last minute notice. I am just thrilled with my new found running empowerment!

I was so motivated after yesterdays workshop I ran 11.2 miles today on the Campbell / Los Gatos trail. The hills in the past would exhaust me so bad I would just walk. I used the techniques you taught us throughout the whole run, remembering one technique, then forgetting, but then remembering to focus on just one thing….it was a crazy run from the start. Crazy run in a good way. It use to take me 2-3 miles before I could catch my breath and get into a rhythm on every run. This whole 11 miles I was never out of breath nor ever was breathing heavy. I felt like I could have run another 10miles…that’s crazy results from one workshop! THANK YOU! “

Thanks for all the help, support and the good advice you have favored upon me. I could successfully complete my initial goal of running a half marathon without any injuries. All of us did well, especially our elite runner. I did much better than I would have expected with EFT of 2:23 @ 10:57 min / mile pace.
