TriciaHello Katherine,

“. . . I'm currently reading the ChiRunning book and adore it!  I feel mentally improved already, and can feel subtle improvements each day I go running while keeping the Chi principles in mind and applying them to my form.  I would love to attend one of your courses, but live in Rome, shucks!  As soon as I'm stateside again, I'll attend one and

9/6/2008 AmieHello Vince, (Certified ChiRunning Instructor)

Thank you so much for all of the help you gave to me at the ChiRunning Workshop in New Hampshire.  I really needed that workshop, because now I realize that I was not doing the ChiRunning technique correctly based on just reading the book.

When I was in elementary school, my gym teachers told my parents that I ran strangely.  My

9/5/2008 Alec,

Great seminar!  It occurred to me what the goal was for ChiRunning one night while going up the stairs in my house.  I show dogs as a hobby which requires keeping up with some fast big moving dogs.  I have always leaned forward when I show dogs but never applied it to my recreational jogging.

It only made sense to try and apply my 'dog show running' form to my everyday jog.

7/29/2008 Hi,

What else can I say but WOW! ChiRunning is awesome. I'm 45 years old, been running all my life and had my share of injuries. Straight up running was my style. My 5k was 27:30 in May 08. Read the ChiRunning book the first two weeks of June. First 5k race in June with the ChiRunning was 25:40. Just finished my 2nd 5k race on July 17 with a time of 24:47. Changed

7/7/2008 I just wanted to tell you how much my running has improved since I took a class with instructor Kelly Ryan of Kamuela, HI. Even though no one else had signed up she gave me a class. I was training for the Ford Hawaii 1/2 Ironman and I feel she went out of her way to be sure I got the class in time. I had lost a lot of running time due being hit

7/6/2008 I just completed my 5th 1/2 Ironman and for the first time, I ran the full 1/2 marathon portion!!!  Since I have been practicing ChiRunning, I have noticed that I can run steadily even after just cycling long distances.   I am 60 years old and am training for the Canada Ironman in August.  This will be my third.  Up until now, I have always had an awesome bike ride

6/13/2008 Hi Danny and the Team

I am at the beginning of a two year training program for an Ironman triathlon and at the age of 42 my training goals are efficiency and injury prevention.

I started back to running last year with a painful shock of running a half-marathon in 2:10, everything hurt, calves all knotted up etc etc. I then joined our local running club and my next 1/2 was 1:45.
Anyway

5/22/2008 Danny,

I am just discovering ChiWalking and I am amazed. I started reading your book yesterday and for my walk today I tried aligning myself and body sensing. I couldn’t believe with just that small bit of change the great walk I had. I walked 50 minutes and it felt like 30 or less and no pain. I have a herniated disk and it felt great. all I can say is wow. I

5/16/2008 Danny,

I met you in person at the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon Expo, and you helped me with a pulled hip flexor--I wasn't successfully following the ChiRunning like I thought I was. Anyways, I kept practicing what you told me and just ran my fastest marathon time beating the time I set for myself 12 years ago, when I was 30, and I was faster by over 5 minutes, and not sore after

5/14/2008 Hi  Folks,

Just experiencd a wonderful ChiRunning workshop in Bellingham, Washington. The instructor, Mary Lindahl, was outstanding and the workshop inspirational. I look forward to learning more. Keep up the good work!

5/13/2008 I ran in my 14th Big Sur Marathon last Sunday...my 2nd consciously practicing all that I have learned in ChiRunning. I love that event...and even more now that I know how to relax and enjoy...not just say that is what I want to do! I incorporate what I have learned from ChiRunning in all that I do every day...whether I am walking, running, hiking, riding my bike, or standing at work!

5/13/2008 Ever since I was 16 years old, I have loved running. Plagued with injuries and only 1 single 1/2 marathon under my belt at age 39, I purchased your book, and applied the  techniques. In just 6 months I ran Vancouver marathon in 3:45, and planning to qualify for Boston within the next year, by completing a sub 3:20 marathon.

Fitness really is less than 1/2 the battle. Bio-mechanics is the key ingredient, and

5/12/2008 Katherine,

I so appreciate your response. I ran  2 miles this morning and my PEL is so low compared to before I learned about ChiRunning.  Late in my run I was breathing totally through my nose at times with mouth closed and I was getting plenty of O2!  Very comfortable feeling.

Today, I kept in mind your advice about "gradual progress" and I kept form for most of that time, with brief

5/9/2008 Dear Katherine and Danny,

I am 59 years old and 230#, and I have spent the last 30 years trying to run--even small amounts. But I inevitably (usually quickly) re-injured my calf muscles (you probably already know what's coming). Then I would have to lay off for quite awhile. Then I'd go back and do the same thing. I tried M.D.s, D.C.s, exercises, stretching, everything I could think of. I gave up and

5/8/2008 I am 61 years old. I have been running about 30 years. Along the way I had the usual injuries. None were serious. About three years ago I was recovering from an injury when I found out about ChiRunning. My form is not perfect but I have run injury free ever since I started using your method. And my shoes last a lot longer, too.

5/7/2008 Dear Danny,

I just wanted to thank you for ChiRunning!! I met you three years ago at the Big Sur marathon expo, listened to your presentation and bought your book and DVD. The next day I finished a little less than an hour after the cut-off time but finished none the less, 6:35. Three years later… I start my training, reading your book throughout, watching

5/6/2008 I have been running great thanks to ChiRunning. I continue to improve my technique and have easily cut 90 seconds per mile of my normal pace. It has helped me tremendously in the triathlon. Thanks again, I have told many other runners about ChiRunning. It’s a great thing.

5/2/2008 Kevin I have just completed this years St. Anthony's Triathlon in St. Petersburg Florida and had my personal best race performance. I believe the ChiRunning technique enabled me to run stronger, longer. I have been to a few workshops since March 07 and have been watching, listening and reading ChiRunning. Being a Pilates instructor I really connect with core stability and posture. As I have become more

I’m not one to read books on sports very often, so browsing through the running books was unusual for me. As influential as the first

4/2/2008 Danny, I just have to say it again....ChiRunning rocks!!  Seriously, this morning it was like I had no legs running--I was just floating!  Love it!  I think I feel better now than 20 years ago when I was a state XC and track champion runner!

Thanks!

3/19/2008 Hi. I found your great book in a bookstore in Walvis Bay, Namibia (find that on a map!). I am a musician working on a cruise ship, am 52, and have been running for 30 years, have done 5 marathons (best time 3 hrs 30mns) and have never done more than 200kms a month, ever. I average now about 120kms per month. I am a natural midfoot/forefoot striker, so naturally your book got my attention.

3/1/2008 I recently ran the Gretes Gallop Half Marathon in NYC with Joel Matalon, ChiRunning Instructor. I had trained over the summer a few times with Joel after taking Danny's seminar in April 2007 in New York City. I am hooked on ChiRunning as it has helped me with the usual runner injuries so many of us encounter in a sport we all love. I am happy to say with Joel running by my side

Wow, what a weekend! Cindy and I went to San Antonio for a ChiWalking Workshop with Ken Runner, a ChiWalking/Running coach. We learned so much and he helped us to figure out what we needed to work on. The whole thing was lots of fun and really valuable to our whole goal of walking 60 miles in 3 days for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. He showed us what a difference it can make to use

9/22/2007 ChiWalking is a walking technique that places much less stress than
conventional walking on the joints and supporting structures in the
legs and back. I have recommended the technique to many patients who
suffer from arthritis in the legs and/or back, but would like to
continue to walk regularly for exercise. Using ChiWalking, my
arthritis patients are able to walk farther, more frequently, and

8/9/2007 I saw a patient last week whom I have followed for many years, with, among other problems, severe knee arthritis that limited his walking. I put him onto Chi Walking 3 months ago. He is now Chi walking at all times, and states that by eliminating the heel strike in his step, his knee pain is about gone, and he has been able to take up exercise walking again.

I just thought I would touch base while I had a chance while I am recuperating a bit in Kathmandu. Wow. Talk about an opportunity to put ChiWalking to work in a very real way. After walking about 150 miles or so (as best we can guess) up and down mountain trails in the Himalayas up to Everest Base Camp (at over 5300 meters/around 17,500 feet in altitude) and back, I can honestly tell you

Thank you,

4/23/2007 I gave birth to our first child, Mae Louise, two weeks ago. I was able to do ChiWalking the last two trimesters of my pregnancy. I had to make a few small changes in stride length and postural alignment, but still felt the generation of well-being energy and avoided back/pelvic pain!
12/8/2006 Hi Danny,
I'm sure by now you have taught many workshops, and taught many people...some you've helped and heard from .... and some you've helped and never heard back from.  I attended the workshop in Houston in October 2005, and wanted to let you know what a difference you have made in my life....SINCERELY!  I
experienced a terrible stress fracture April 26th, 2005.  My doctor recommended your book, which I picked up and couldn't put

6/28/2006 I've read the ChiWalking book 2 times now. What a "Masterpiece". I have my wife and mother-n-law doing the ChiWalking. They love it. Thanks for the Newsletter. Hope you guys have gotten all settled in your new home in Ashville, NC.
2/15/2006 "ChiWalking is a truly holistic guide to complete living. Who would
guess that the simple act of walking could change your life? I will
strongly recommend this book to my clients, most of whom are practicing
a variety of life improving exercises, but have been left guessing how
to integrate them into a whole life perspective. Thank you for the
clarity."
2/11/2006 I have begun implementing some of the techniques of ChiRunning to my walking, and found it extremely beneficial.  I have studied taiji and qigong on and off for years, particularly the Zhan Zhuang and Da Cheng Chuan styles.  I could never progress far due to the pain and numbness in my feet.

and then the fun part begins with the ascent back up to the helicopter
landing zone.   Some of these ascents

12/16/2005 Hi Danny,
My wife has recently lost 10 lbs (I'm not supposed to tell anyone), and a big part of that is walking your way.  After my session with you last month, I showed  her the basics.
She began walking by lifting and leaning.  Now, she walks everyday, loves it, goes for an hour or so, her heart rate is lower and she's not pounding hard.  The women's fitness magazines have walking all wrong,
