In this month's Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy: the study, A Comparison of Negative Joint Work and Vertical Ground Reaction Force Loading Rates in Chi Runners and Rearfoot-Striking Runners, by Don Goss (PT, PhD, OCS, ATC) and Michael Gross (PT, PhD, FAPTA) at UNC Chapel Hill, reports that “employing a method of running similar to ChiRunning may reduce knee loading and ground reaction force loading rates” when compared to the strike and loading patterns of rear-foot strikers.
